Who to call, text or chat

  • ConnexOntario is the province's help line for gambling, free, confidential and open 24 hours. Call 1-866-531-2600, text CONNEX to 247247, or chat at connexontario.ca.
  • My PlayBreak, from OLG, keeps you out of every Ontario casino for 3 or 6 months or 1 to 5 years, with no shortening once it starts. Enrol through the OLG Support Centre at 1-800-387-0098, with staff on site, or at a PlaySmart Centre.
  • The Virtual PlaySmart Centre, part of OLG's playsmart.ca, answers at 1-833-888-2306 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.
  • BetGuard, from iGaming Ontario at betguard.ca, closes every regulated Ontario online site to you, OLG.ca included. Pick 6 months, 1 year, 5 years or your own length; it has no effect at a casino you walk into.

Before you leave the driveway

General advice first: every slot is built with a house edge, so the machines take in more than they pay out over time. Over many evenings, losing is the expected result. Pick a spending limit and a time to head home before you leave the driveway. Those hold up better than ones picked at the machine. The drive home counts too, so leave it room in the plan: a clear head and money left for the rest of the week.

The crew behind the guide

  • Checked October 11, 2026
  • Ontario time
  • Straight-line distances, town points © OpenStreetMap contributors
  • Drawings generated; the young woman is a character, not a person

Out to the Downs is written and signed by the Out to the Downs crew. That is a collective name, with no personal byline and no named author. The young woman in the drawings came out of an image generator, made for this guide. She is not a real person, not staff, and was never drawn at the track.

Every fact here was checked on October 11, 2026. The sources were the Kawartha Downs pages, Great Canadian's Shorelines page and code of conduct, OLG, the AGCO and iGaming Ontario. The City of Peterborough's transit page and OpenStreetMap filled in the rest. Distances run in a straight line from the track to a town's OpenStreetMap point, so a road is always longer. No driving time is ever guessed, and times are Ontario time.

The site has no forms and no accounts. Your light or dark choice is the only thing it keeps, and only for the open tab.
